About the Retreat:
This 4 day silent retreat is an opportunity to go deeper into the meditation practice. We begin with the foundational instructions of the Buddha on mindfulness of the body, breath, feelings and the mind itself. This practice can bring us to states of deep calm and tranquility in which clear insights about our conditionings and the nature of experience can arise. With our practice focusing on sitting and walking meditation and with the retreat being in silence, the quality of mindfulness flows into all aspects of life. We taste what it is like to live with a natural sense of wakefulness, aliveness and joy in the ordinariness of being. As well as instruction for meditation and teaching, there will be opportunities to bring questions about the practice.
We welcome people from any spiritual background, or none, and with little or much experience of meditation.
What Others Have to Say About Us
Last October I attended my first silent retreat with Lauren. Going into the retreat I was excited but also hesitant. I am a very social person and the thought of being completely disconnected from talking and processing with others had me very anxious. We had no cell phones or connection to the outside world. On my drive there I just told myself that I was going to just dive in and have an open mind and heart to the experience. When I arrived it was like a switch was flipped I immediately gave up my phone and I was ready. To say this experience changed my life is an understatement. Participating in the early morning yoga was so refreshing, Lauren is a wonderful instructor and holds a beautiful space for everyone. The food at this retreat was amazing and clean and the chefs were wonderful people. We went on a silent hike as a group and the connection I felt to nature was so grounding. Not being able to speak to others allowed my mind to quiet and I got to feel people’s energy rather than getting to know them through their stories. I made lasting connections with several of the people attending. I would recommend attending a silent retreat at least once in your life. You will not regret it and you will leave forever changed. After returning home I found myself being more intentional with everything I did even the day to day things like washing my face and brushing teeth. I felt more connection to my loved ones but most importantly I felt a deeper connection to myself.
